Ruh and I headed up to Crystal Mountain near Mt. Rainier to do some snowboarding this past week. I have only been a couple times before this and I was determined to have a better trip than the last time which ended in Ruh and I not talking on the way home! Well, let me say this trip was a HUGE success and not only were Ruh and I talking but we were kissing and holding hands and telling each other how much fun we both had!
I looked up a bunch of online videos of how to snowboard. It's not the same as having an actual lesson but having someone explain how it's suppose to feel and what to do with your legs and body was really helpful. I was really excited to try out all the tips the videos gave. (Let's just say Ruh doesn't have the patience to be a teacher.) I mainly hung out on the bunny slope and Ruh went with me on a couple runs. I got the feel for what I was doing and even though I am in no way a pro it was going really well. I decided to go up with Ruh to one of the harder runs. It was hard and I fell a lot and even got stuck in one spot and had to remove my board and walk a little ways but I did a lot better than I did last time but was pretty pooped by the time I got back to the lodge. We ate lunch together and then I told Ruh to go and have some fun up on the slopes and I did some more runs on the bunny slope by myself which was nice because I didn't feel the pressure that I was going to slow for Ruh.
I eventually pooped out before Ruh and he went up and did more runs and I read a book for a little while. It started raining and I knew Ruh was going to be drenched when he got back. I went up by the lodge, stood under an eave and watched for my man to come down. The rain started to come down harder and it was COLD. Eventually I saw him coming down and we walked back to the car together. We had a really fun day and I am really glad Ruh had fun too. I think he was nervous about taking me up again. He even said he would take me up again! SUCCESS! :)
Here is a little video Ruh took of me snowboarding. Look out Shaun White! :)

You go girl! That looks like you guys had an awesome time! I don't put fiberglass under my feet and go down a hill anymore - it puts the Lord to the test ;)
Miss you! Love the pics!
For the love! How dangerous was it for Ruh to film and snow board??? Are you kidding me??? And one other question...how do you actually stop on that thing? I think I'd sit down, or fall down, whichever came first...
"For the love!" I can just hear you saying that!! :) Ruh is pretty good so it seemed almost effortless for him. I on the other hand would be flat on my face in a second if I tried to hold a camera and snowboard at the same time! You pretty much have to ignore the natural instinct of self-preservation when you are snowboarding. Stopping isn't too hard if you are going slow, but when you are going fast that's another story. I was zooming at one point and wanted to stop and I ended up catching the front edge of my board on a groove and WHAM, face plant!! If I use the proper "lingo" it was pretty epic and it's a good thing I had a brain bucket on! LOL! Do you ski Kristen?
No, mostly due to a bum knee and...well...and lack of coordination. I am more of a team sports kind of gal - I played volleyball and basketball, softball in HS. Now I enjoy swimming and tennis. I walk with my girlfriend all over our property, too, weather-permitting. I am more of a social athlete! I think it's precious that Ruh and you go off and do these things together...not sure about all the danger, though! Face plants aren't that appealing at my age...
